Odai Chawan (御題茶碗)
"Odai" is a theme of the Japanese poetry contest (Utakaihajime - 歌会始) held at the Imperial Palace in January. The poems are collected from the Emperor and other members of the Imperial Family as well as from the general public.
Odai-chawan is tea bowls which are made every year in accordance with the year's theme, and designed with a wide range of themes, such as "hope", "people" or "tranquility”.
